The sense of connection to Source, the inner light, the feeling of touching something far greater than our small everyday selves—that's what first drew me to hypnosis, and it still moves me every single day.

And also—both things can be true at once—I deeply love the science. I think it's beautiful when ancient wisdom and rigorous research point in the same direction. So I want to use this little corner of my blog, which I've named "Inspired Science," to share some of the more grounded, evidence-minded reasons that hypnotherapy is increasingly being recognized as a legitimate therapeutic tool. One of the people leading that charge is someone whose training I'm currently immersed in: Grace Smith.

A Method Built on Both Heart and Rigor

I'm currently about halfway through an intensive certification course called the Grace Method™ Hypnotherapy Training, founded by Grace Smith. What I admire so much about Grace is the way she bridges two worlds. She's on a heartfelt mission to bring hypnotherapy into the mainstream—as normalized and respected as yoga or meditation have become—and she pairs that vision with a real commitment to scholarship. She is currently pursuing a Master's in Psychology at Harvard University, and her broader training spans a Certificate in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University and a Certificate in Neuroscience for Business from the Wharton School. A Wall Street Journal bestselling author, she's genuinely passionate about pointing to the research that supports hypnosis as a therapeutic technique.

That combination speaks to me. It mirrors my own belief that we don't have to choose between the spiritual and the scientific. We can hold both with open hands.

In the spirit of transparency that I treasure: because I'm still completing my certification, I'm currently offering Grace Method practice sessions at reduced rates as I finish my training. It's a beautiful win-win—you get to experience these powerful techniques at an accessible price, and I get to deepen my craft with open-hearted clients. I'm endlessly grateful to everyone who joins me on this stretch of the journey.

What the "Trance" State Actually Is

One of the most reassuring things I've learned is that the hypnotic state isn't strange or supernatural at all—it's entirely natural. In scientific terms, deep hypnosis often corresponds to the Theta brainwave state, the same relaxed, dreamy state your mind naturally moves through twice a day: as you're drifting off to sleep, and as you're gently waking. We all experience it. Hypnotherapy simply offers a way to access that receptive state intentionally, with guidance and purpose.

In that relaxed state, the constant chatter of the analytical, everyday mind quiets down. This is part of why so many people find hypnosis to be such a powerful complement to their wellness practices: it creates space to work with the subconscious rather than against it.

A Therapeutic Option Worth Knowing About

People often think of hypnotherapy only in spiritual or "woo" terms, and while I treasure that dimension, I also think it's a disservice not to mention its practical, therapeutic side. Many people explore hypnosis as one supportive option among many for things like stress and relaxation, building confidence, gently shifting unwanted habits, and cultivating greater self-awareness and mindfulness.

Here's where I want to be especially clear and careful, because integrity matters enormously to me: I am not a doctor or a licensed mental health professional, hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical or psychological care, and I never make claims about curing or treating any condition. Everyone is different, and results naturally vary. What the growing body of research does invite us to do is take hypnosis seriously as a complementary, supportive practice—and to approach it with both curiosity and discernment. If you enjoy exploring the evidence yourself, Grace's team maintains a wonderful, regularly updated index of scientific studies, which you can browse over at the Grace Hypnotherapy research hub.

Holding Both, With Open Hands

I think this is what "Inspired Science" really means to me: staying open to wonder and open to evidence. I'll always love the mystical heart of this work—the reconnection, the service, the sense that we're so much more than we appear to be. But I'm also grateful to teachers like Grace Smith who are doing the careful work of helping the wider world understand that the power of the mind is real, researchable, and worthy of respect.

The most exciting part, to me, is that you don't have to subscribe to any particular belief system to benefit. You only have to be willing to get curious about the remarkable resources already within you.

Keep it light and shine bright. ✨

This post was written with the assistance of AI, guided by my own words, experiences, and intentions. your website.

The reality is so much gentler, and so much more beautiful. Hypnosis is simply a state of deep, focused relaxation, one we naturally drift in and out of every single day. And transpersonal hypnotherapy, the heart of my certified training, takes that gentle, relaxed state and opens it toward something larger: the connection between mind, body, and spirit.

I'd love to share a little about this approach, where it comes from, and why it has shaped the way I hold space for my clients.

What Makes It "Transpersonal"?

The word transpersonal simply means "beyond the personal"—beyond the small, everyday sense of who we think we are. Transpersonal hypnotherapy, as developed by Alan Chips, weaves together traditional hypnotherapy techniques with a broader exploration of consciousness and spirituality. It honors the idea that we are more than our habits, our wounds, and our roles—that there is a deeper, wiser self within each of us, always available when we grow quiet enough to listen.

This is the approach I trained in and am certified to practice, and it resonates deeply with how I already see this work: as an expedition into the depths of the mind, much like scuba diving beneath the surface of the ocean. There's a whole world down there, full of beauty and wisdom, waiting to be gently explored.

A Holistic, Heart-Centered Approach

What I love about transpersonal hypnotherapy is its wholeness. It recognizes that our emotional, psychological, and spiritual lives are interconnected, and that true healing often invites us to engage all of who we are.

In a session, I guide you into a relaxed, focused state where you can safely explore your subconscious mind. From that place, many people find they can uncover hidden beliefs and patterns, process past experiences, gain clarity, and create meaningful, positive shifts in their lives. The work is collaborative and entirely yours—I'm simply here as a facilitator, holding a calm and loving space while you do the beautiful inner work.

The Ways We Can Work Together

One of the gifts of this modality is its flexibility. Unlike some deeper forms of regression work, transpersonal hypnotherapy sessions can be offered either virtually over Zoom or in person here in Cornelius, NC—whatever feels most comfortable and accessible for you. A few of the ways we might work together include:

Suggestive (Goal-Oriented) Hypnosis. This is a wonderful bridge from "what you're experiencing now" to "what you'd like to be experiencing." Whether your focus is easing stress, building self-confidence, or gently reshaping a thought pattern that no longer serves you, we use deep relaxation and positive, empowering suggestions to support the change you're seeking.

Happy Childhood Memory Regression. In this gentle session, I guide you back to a cherished, joyful memory—a sun-drenched day, a moment of pure delight and safety. Reconnecting with that innocence and freedom can be deeply restorative, and we explore how those joyful feelings can be woven back into your present life.

Group Suggestive Sessions. Healing in community has its own special magic. In a group setting, participants share calming relaxation, gentle imagery, and empowering affirmations around common themes, then have the chance to reflect together and strengthen their sense of connection.

A Gentle, Honest Word

As I always like to share openly: hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical or psychological care, and because each person is wonderfully unique, results naturally vary from one individual to the next. I never make promises about specific outcomes. What I can promise is a safe, warm, judgment-free space, and my whole-hearted presence as you explore.

Transpersonal hypnotherapy, to me, is ultimately about peeling away the barriers that obscure your true self—and setting free the brilliant, unique spirit that already resides within you. We don't shine by adding anything; we simply reveal the glow that was always there. Whether you're navigating anxiety, seeking personal growth, or simply feeling called to explore your own inner depths, this work offers a gentle and enriching pathway.

If your heart feels even a small tug of curiosity, I'd be honored to hear from you.

Keep it light and shine bright. ✨

This post was written with the assistance of AI, guided by my own words, experiences, and intentions.

Of all the modalities I'm trained in, Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique, or QHHT, may be the deepest, most beautiful dive of all. I'd love to share a little about what it is, where it comes from, and why it has become such a meaningful part of my work.

What Is QHHT?

QHHT® was developed by the late Dolores Cannon, a hypnotherapist and researcher who devoted more than four decades to exploring the deeper landscapes of the mind. Over many thousands of sessions, she developed a method for gently guiding people into a profoundly relaxed state—what she came to understand as a doorway to that all-knowing part of ourselves that has been called the Higher Self, the Oversoul, even the Soul itself.

Dolores referred to this greater part of us as The Subconscious, which she later abbreviated to The SC. It's the part of us that remains always connected to Source, holding unlimited wisdom and a remarkable capacity to support healing. When we relax deeply enough to quiet the busy, everyday mind, we create space to listen inward—and what we hear there can be illuminating.

A Journey Without Distance

One of my favorite things about a QHHT session is that it asks so little of you and offers so much. You don't have to "try" to do anything. You simply rest.

In scientific terms, I gently guide you into what's called the Theta brainwave state—the same natural, dreamy state your mind drifts through twice a day, right as you're falling asleep and again as you're waking. It's entirely natural; we all experience it. In that relaxed state, the usual distractions of the conscious mind quiet down, freeing your attention to access deep memories, impressions, and wisdom in a rich, multi-sensory way.

Some people experience vivid scenes that feel like other times or other lives. Others receive feelings, symbols, or simply a sense of clarity about something they've been carrying. There's no single "right" way to experience it. Each session unfolds exactly as it's meant to for that person. I often tell clients it's a "journey without distance"—you travel far inward while resting comfortably, and you come back feeling refreshed, as though you've just had a deeply restorative nap.

Why I Hold QHHT Sessions In Person

In keeping with the way Dolores Cannon developed and taught this work, QHHT sessions are held in person. While I happily offer some of my other modalities virtually over Zoom, this one I hold space for face to face. There's something about sharing the same quiet room—the same stillness—that supports the depth this particular work invites.

I'm based in the Cornelius, NC area, and I'm happy to come to you in the comfort of your own home. I also travel from time to time to Scottsdale, AZ and Miami, FL, so if you're in one of those areas, please don't hesitate to reach out—we may well be able to find a time to connect in person.

Where I Am In My Journey

Trust matters deeply in this work, so I like to be transparent about where I am.

QHHT training unfolds across multiple levels. I currently hold certification as a Level 1 intern, with my Level 2 coursework completed, and I'm eagerly looking forward to becoming a full Level 2 practitioner once I've completed the necessary practice sessions with clients.

What this means for you is a beautiful opportunity: during this stage, I'm offering QHHT practice sessions, and I'm endlessly grateful to everyone who shares this experience with me. There's a real sweetness in growing together—practitioner and client both showing up with open hearts and a spirit of exploration.

Is QHHT Calling to You?

People come to this work for all kinds of reasons. Some are curious about the nature of consciousness. Some are seeking peace around a question they've carried for years. Some hope to explore past lives, or to reconnect with their own inner guidance. And some simply feel quietly called, without fully knowing why—and in my experience, that gentle calling is always worth listening to.

I do want to be honest and clear, as I always strive to be: hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical or psychological care, and each person's experience is unique, so I never make promises about specific outcomes. What I can offer is a comforting, judgment-free space to relax deeply, explore your inner world, and reconnect with the brilliant wisdom that already lives within you. My role isn't to direct your experience—it's to hold a safe, loving space while you peel away the barriers that obscure your true self.

If something in you stirred while reading this—a little spark of curiosity or recognition—I'd love to hear from you. Sometimes that spark is exactly where the journey begins.

Keep it light and shine bright. ✨

This post was written with the assistance of AI, guided by my own words, experiences, and intentions.
